ABOUT AMAMI

IMG_3087_q_edited.jpg

Breathtaking coral beaches, lush evergreen forests, and subtropical mountains — Amami Oshima is home to rich landscapes and remarkable biodiversity.

Much of the island is covered in lush evergreen forests, where a wide variety of life thrives, from rare birds to endemic plants and insects.

Amami's culture has grown in deep connection with this natural environment. For generations, people have lived in harmony with the land and sea, shaping traditions that reflect respect for nature and a slower, seasonal rhythm of life.

And of course, the incredible food — fresh seafood, tropical fruits, and seasonal vegetables — along with locally brewed Amamian liquor, is not to be missed.

About Tabidori

AMAMI Private Tour Tabidori is an independent tour guiding service for small groups (1–4 people).

Although just a few hours from major cities in mainland Japan, Amami can be a relatively inconvenient destination for inbound tourists. The island is much larger than you might expect, and most tourist spots, local shops, and restaurants are difficult to access without a private vehicle.
